  Dithranol

Dithranol is a tar-like ointment which is applied to the scalp and is best known for its use in the treatment of psoriasis. It acts against cell division and discourages overgrowth of the outermost layer of skin cells. It may irritate the skin cells when applied and needs to be washed off after a short time.
